Vernon Avenue used to be called Savoy Road. A current resident's aunt lived in Savoy Road in the 30s and was flooded out, perhaps because of poor drainage at that time. Following bomb damage in the war, a few of the houses were rebuilt to a different design. As a result, there is no number thirteen.
